1.Somaliland

There are significant lithium deposits in Somaliland, positioning the country as a potential key player in the global energy market. 18.75 Sqkm mine has been identified located around 80 kms North-West of Hegesa, capital of Somaliland.

The location of proposed mine is LATITUDE: 09°50’05” N and LONGITUDE: 43°53’56” E. This region falls in Marodijeh state of Somaliland. The lithium deposits here are expected to be of 300 Million Tonnes. Initial investigation report suggests the concentration of lithium as 2.87%.

A MOU is signed with M/s Mandera Minerals company for development of mine project at Somaliland. A international standard Berbera port, on North of proposed mine is very pivotal in logistic management.

The country is in developing stage as far as mining infrastructure is concern. The region provides good political will and better opportunities for South East Asian countries for Lithium ore extraction..

2. Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe has Africa’s largest lithium reserves and is ranked as one of the top 10 countries in the world producing the soft, silvery-white ore. There are many players, involved in lithium mining in the Republic of Zimbabwe.

A mine area has been identified in Masvingo, a southern xprovince of Zimbabwe. This mine is located near Bitika mines, one of the Biggest mines in Zimbabwe.

A MOU is signed with M/s Microlite Mining Syndicate for extraction of lithium by developing open cast mines at Bitika, Zimbabwe. The expected grade of lithium is 2.5 to 3.0 % with substantial reserves spread over 24 Sqkm area.

The Beira Port of Mozambique, around 400kms from proposed mine is well equipped to handle desired export through large size vessels.

Zimbabwe has good mining infrastructure, which will enhance the process of mining operations in this country.
